Every Dark Souls II NPC questline step by step, with the missable points and the rewards, so you never lose a quest.
Emerald Herald
The green-cloaked woman who levels you up, takes Estus Flask Shards and Sublime Bone Dust, and guides you toward the king.
- Speak to her by the Majula bonfire for the Estus Flask; she levels you up from then on
- Bring her Estus Flask Shards to add Estus charges
- She appears at the foot of Drangleic Castle and again atop the steps after you take the King's Ring
- Talk to her in Dragon Aerie to receive the Aged Feather
- She waits on the path to the Throne of Want before the final fights
Crestfallen Saulden
A gloomy undead sitting by the Majula monument; he leads the Way of Blue.
- Exhaust his talk in Majula to learn Welcome and the option to join the Way of Blue (Blue Seal)
- Once four new residents have moved into Majula he gives a Soul Vessel
- After you have died 100 times he hands you the Ring of Steel Protection; killing him also drops it
Blacksmith Lenigrast
Majula's blacksmith, locked out of his own shop until you buy his key.
- Buy Lenigrast's Key from Merchant Hag Melentia in the Forest of Fallen Giants and open his door
- He upgrades weapons and armour and sells titanite, ammo and basic weapons
- Spend 8,000 souls with him to receive the Blacksmith's Hammer (killing him also drops it)
Sweet Shalquoir
A talking cat in the house beside the pit who sells rings and handy consumables.
- Buy rings such as the Silvercat Ring and Ring of the Evil Eye from her
- After both Royal Rat bosses die she sells the Flying Feline Boots
- After the Looking Glass Knight her consumables become unlimited
Maughlin the Armourer
An eager armour seller in Majula whose stock grows the more you spend.
- Buy from him in Majula; spending 1,000 and then 16,000 souls unlocks better sets
- After spending 16,000 souls, talk to him with no souls on hand to receive the Aurous set
- Boss armour appears in his shop as you defeat the matching bosses
- In NG+ he adds the Moon Butterfly pieces after the required bosses
Merchant Hag Melentia
A travelling merchant first met at Cardinal Tower who later settles in Majula and stocks the gear of slain NPCs.
- Buy Lenigrast's Key from her at Cardinal Tower
- Spend 10,000 souls with her to receive the Covetous Silver Serpent Ring+1 (killing her also drops it)
- Exhaust her dialogue so she moves to Majula after the Last Giant dies
- In Majula she later gives you a Radiant Lifegem and sells the armour of NPCs you have killed
Cale the Cartographer
An explorer digging in a forest cave who wants to map Drangleic from the Majula mansion.
- Talk to him in the Forest of Fallen Giants cave for the House Key
- Clear the skeletons under the Majula mansion; he moves into the map room
- Light all the flames on his map (great souls, King's Ring, Ashen Mist Heart, Throne Watcher and Defender)
- Talk to him afterwards for his set and the Curious Map achievement; killing him first ruins this
Benhart of Jugo
A jovial swordsman resting near Majula who joins you for several boss fights.
- Talk to him on the path out of Majula
- After freeing Rosabeth, talk to him again to learn Joy
- Summon him for at least three bosses and keep him alive: Prowling Magus, Looking Glass Knight, Giant Lord, Throne Watcher and Defender or Elana
- Talk to him in Central Castle Drangleic along the way
- Find him by the Memory of Orro tree for the Bluemoon Greatsword and his set (Moonlight Greatsword achievement)
Mild Mannered Pate
A friendly-seeming adventurer who leads you into traps and shares a feud with Creighton.
- Talk to him in the forest and walk into his trap, then talk again for the White Sign Soapstone
- Summon him against the Last Giant
- Meet him in Earthen Peak and walk into his second trap
- In Brightstone Cove Tseldora he fights Creighton; kill one of them, the survivor gives his set and the Tseldora Den Key
Creighton the Wanderer
A blunt mercenary hunting Pate, found locked in Undead Lockaway.
- Free him with the Undead Lockaway Key and learn Fist Pump
- Summon him against the Skeleton Lords
- Meet him on top of a tower in the Shaded Woods
- Decide between him and Pate in Brightstone Cove Tseldora
Lucatiel of Mirrah
A masked knight afraid of losing her memories; summon her and keep her alive to finish her story.
- Meet her in the Lost Bastille near The Tower Apart
- Talk to her in No-man's Wharf for a Human Effigy
- Talk to her in Harvest Valley for the Ring of Steel Protection+1
- Talk to her in Black Gulch
- Summon her for at least three bosses and keep her alive: Flexile Sentry, The Rotten, Smelter Demon, The Lost Sinner or the Burnt Ivory King
- Talk to her in Aldia's Keep only after those fights for the Mirrah Greatsword and her set (Lucatiel's Trophy)
Steady Hand McDuff
A blind smith in the Lost Bastille who infuses weapons once you bring him the Dull Ember.
- Reach McDuff's Workshop and give him the Dull Ember
- Light the torch in his workshop and take the Craftsman's Hammer from his chest
- Spend 14,000 souls on his upgrades and infusions for a Titanite Slab (Smith for Life)
Licia of Lindelt
A miracle-selling priestess who moves to Majula and opens the path to Huntsman's Copse.
- Meet her at Heide's Tower of Flame after the Dragonrider and exhaust her dialogue
- In Majula pay her 2,000 souls and she turns the rotunda with her Rotunda Lockstone, opening the way to Huntsman's Copse
- With 30 Faith she gives the Saint's set and the Idol's Chime
- With the Crushed Eye Orb from Undead Crypt you can invade and kill her for her gear
Rosabeth of Melfia
A petrified pyromancer beyond Majula who upgrades your Pyromancy Flame once freed.
- Free her with a Fragrant Branch of Yore in the building past Benhart
- Talk to her for a Prism Stone; she sells pyromancies and quartz rings and reinforces the Pyromancy Flame
- Give her a spare piece of clothing when she asks (Change of Clothes)
- Rest at the Far Fire and she moves to Majula
Laddersmith Gilligan
A greedy ladder maker who sells ladders, goods and a gesture.
- Pay him 2,000 souls at Earthen Peak to lower a ladder and learn Prostration
- After Mytha dies he moves to Majula
- Buy his three pit ladders, then talk to him for the Melu Scimitar (Garrulous Miser)
Carhillion of the Fold
A sorcery teacher in No-man's Wharf who needs 8 Intelligence to deal with you.
- Talk to him in No-man's Wharf with 8 Intelligence to buy sorceries and rings
- He then moves to the dead tree in Majula
- At 30 Intelligence he gives the Northern Ritual Band+1
Lonesome Gavlan
A trader of poison goods who buys your spare items and moves twice.
- Trade with him in No-man's Wharf
- He moves to Harvest Valley and finally to Doors of Pharros, where his stock becomes unlimited
Stone Trader Chloanne
A titanite seller whose stock grows as you progress; she settles in Majula.
- Meet her at the Harvest Valley entrance and exhaust her dialogue
- She moves to Majula; spend 20,000 souls for two Twinkling Titanite
- Her shop expands after Old Iron King, Looking Glass Knight, seeing Vendrick and beating the game
Straid of Olaphis
A petrified sorcerer in the Bastille who turns boss souls into weapons and spells.
- Free him with a Fragrant Branch of Yore near Straid's Cell
- Learn Mock, buy his spells and trade boss souls
- In NG+ trade the four old souls for Flame Weapon, Crystal Soul Spear, Blinding Bolt and Numbness
Head of Vengarl
A talking severed head in the Shaded Woods fog; his body wanders elsewhere.
- Find him in the fog of Shaded Woods and learn Decapitate
- Exhaust his dialogue for Vengarl's Helm (Reflections of Disembodiment)
- Kill his body past the petrified Lion Warrior and he sells the Red Rust weapons
Manscorpion Tark
Najka's lover, understood only while wearing the Ring of Whispers.
- Talk to him in the sand area while wearing the Ring of Whispers
- Summon him against Scorpioness Najka
- After she dies, talk to him for a Fragrant Branch of Yore and Warmup
Weaponsmith Ornifex
A caged smith who later opens shop in Tseldora and crafts boss soul gear.
- Open her cage in the Shaded Woods with the Fang Key and exhaust her talk
- Find her in Brightstone Cove Tseldora; she upgrades gear and trades boss souls
Felkin the Outcast
A hexer at the Undead Refuge bonfire who needs both Intelligence and Faith.
- With 8 Intelligence and 8 Faith he sells hexes
- With 20 of each he gives the Hexer's set and the Sunset Staff
Darkdiver Grandahl
The leader of the Pilgrims of Dark, met in three hidden places.
- Meet him in Black Gulch, Shaded Woods and under Drangleic Castle
- Join the Pilgrims of Dark and offer Human Effigies to enter the Dark Chasm of Old
- Rank up for Resonant Soul, Great Resonant Soul, then Climax, the Xanthous set and the Dragon Chime
Royal Sorcerer Navlaan
A caged sorcerer who sends a Hollow player out to kill four people.
- Talk to him in Aldia's Keep while Hollow
- Show the Ladder Miniature for the Dispelling Ring
- Show Cale's Helm for Simpleton's Spice
- Show the Sunset Staff for Forbidden Sun
- Show the Aged Feather for Unleash Magic, then talk again for the Chaos set
- Freeing him as a human skips the quest but makes him invade you
Magerold of Lanafir
A jester in Iron Keep who lowers spell requirements and leads the Dragon Remnants.
- Buy from him in Iron Keep and incense spells with spices
- Spend 10,000 souls for the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring+1
- Bring the Petrified Egg to join the Dragon Remnants
Cromwell the Pardoner
A priest who absolves sin and sells miracles and bite rings.
- Find him above the Prowling Magus church
- At 35 Faith he gives the Ring of Resistance
Titchy Gren
The leader of the Brotherhood of Blood, waiting past the Executioner's Chariot.
- Bring a Token of Spite to join the Brotherhood of Blood
- He sells the Bone King and Executioner sets once their bosses are dead
Chancellor Wellager
The castle's chancellor, selling rare goods and, in NG++, the covenant-locked spells.
- Learn This One's Me and shop inside Drangleic Castle
- After the Looking Glass Knight he sells extra weapons and shields
- In NG++ he sells Bountiful Sunlight, Wrath of the Gods and Great Chaos Fireball
Captain Drummond
A soldier in the Memory of Vammar who fights beside you against the Giant Lord.
- Talk to him in the Memory of Vammar to learn Hurrah!
- You may summon him against the Giant Lord
- After the Giant Lord dies, talk to him again for the Drangleic Helm (Holder of the Fort)
Grave Warden Agdayne
The crypt's guardian; keep the area dark or he turns hostile.
- Approach without light and learn Have Mercy!
- Summon him against Velstadt
- With the King's Ring he gives his set and Darkdrift
Milfanito
Singing sisters of the Shrine of Amana; one is caged in Drangleic Castle.
- Talk to the first sister in the Shrine of Amana for a Smooth & Silky Stone
- Free the caged sister with the Key to the Embedded for the Ring of the Dead
- As a Hollow, visit the sister above Rise of the Dead for a Fire Seed, Divine Blessing and Petrified Something
Milibeth
The housekeeper of the old Fire Keepers in Things Betwixt.
- Talk to her when you start
- Kill the three Ogres and talk to her again for the Handmaid's Ladle
Strowen
One of the three old Fire Keepers; she reallocates stats for a Soul Vessel.
- Bring a Soul Vessel to respec your stats
- Talk to her with the King's Ring for six Human Effigies
Dyna & Tillo
Unseen sisters who trade random items for stones dropped into their nest.
- Drop a Small Smooth & Silky Stone or similar into the nest in Things Betwixt to get an item back
Blue Sentinel Targray
Leader of the Blue Sentinels in the Cathedral of Blue.
- Bring a Token of Fidelity to join the Blue Sentinels and learn Duel Bow
Bell Keeper
The small keepers of Belfry Luna and Belfry Sol.
- Talk to one in either belfry to join the Bell Keepers
Rat King
The ruler of the rats in the Grave of Saints.
- Defeat the Royal Rat Vanguard and talk to him to join the Rat King covenant
Alsanna, Silent Oracle
An oracle in the Grand Cathedral who asks you to bring back the Loyce Knights.
- Talk to her in the Grand Cathedral to end the blizzard
- Return the three lost Loyce Knights before the Burnt Ivory King
- Trade Loyce Souls with her for the Loyce set and her soul
Bradley of the Old Guard
A summonable knight for the Flexile Sentry and Scorpioness Najka.
Masterless Glencour
A summon for the Dragonrider, Belfry Gargoyles and Aava.
Pilgrim Bellclaire
A summon for the Ruin Sentinels and the Twin Dragonrider.
Felicia the Brave
A summon for the Ruin Sentinels and the Demon of Song.
Sellsword Luet
A summon for several bosses including the Last Giant and the Lost Sinner.
Ruined Alfis
A summon for the Pursuer and the Cave of the Dead fight.

A summon for Mytha; he later invades in Dragon's Sanctum.
