Walkthrough: Majula

  • Light the Far Fire bonfire, then talk to the Emerald Herald to receive the Estus Flask and unlock levelling
  • Walk back up the entry path for a Divine Blessing, then slip through the gap on the right and chat with Benhart of Jugo
  • Killing Benhart of Jugo gives the Bluemoon Greatsword and adds his gear to Merchant Hag Melentia's stock, but ends his questline
  • A few Lifegems and Homeward Bones lie scattered around this spot
  • Enter the building, open the left door, kill the Bloated Hollow and take the Lloyd's Talismans
  • Climb the steps by the bonfire and talk to Crestfallen Saulden to learn the Welcome gesture; he can enlist you in the Way of Blue, which gives the Blue Seal
  • Crestfallen Saulden gives the Ring of Steel Protection once you have died 100 times; killing him also drops it
  • The plaque next to him shows the worldwide death count
  • Speak to Blacksmith Lenigrast outside his locked shop, then grab the Soul of a Nameless Soldier and Lifegems to the right of his house
  • By the great pit, look under the tent for another Lifegem
  • Take the steps right of the tent, descend the spiral stairs and open the chest for the Crimson Parma
  • Climb the hill to the Victor's Stone, take the Homeward Bones and, if you want a harder game, pledge to the Company of Champions there (you receive the Champion's Tablet)
  • In the house beside the pit, meet Sweet Shalquoir; she sells Ring of the Evil Eye, Silvercat Ring, Redeye Ring, Name-engraved Ring, Ring of Whispers, Prism Stones, Alluring Skulls and Lloyd's Talismans
  • Once both Royal Rat Vanguard and Royal Rat Authority are dead, Sweet Shalquoir adds the Flying Feline Boots
  • Hit the stone at the well beside the mansion to reveal an Estus Flask Shard
  • Killing the Enslaved Pigs many times turns them into Undead Boars and finally a Giant Undead Boar, which drops three Cracked Red Eye Orbs once
  • In the house across the pit, buy armour or shields from Maughlin the Armourer: Iron Parma, Silver Eagle Kite Shield, Twin Dragon Greatshield, plus the Hard Leather, Infantry and Falconer pieces
  • After spending 1,000 souls with Maughlin the Armourer he adds the Royal Soldier and Elite Knight sets; at 16,000 he adds the Alva set
  • Talk to Maughlin the Armourer with no souls on hand after spending 16,000 to receive the Aurous set as a gift
  • Boss armour sets appear in his stock as you defeat the matching bosses
  • Climb the ladder next to his shop and open the chest for a Titanite Shard
  • Give the Estus Flask Shard to the Emerald Herald to add a charge
  • Along the seaside path toward the forest, the first hut has a chest with a Rusted Coin; its lever raises the gate
  • Through the gate, drop down for a Human Effigy, then carry on to the Forest of Fallen Giants
  • NG+: after spending enough with Maughlin the Armourer and beating the required bosses he sells Moon Butterfly Wings, Moon Butterfly Cuffs and Moon Butterfly Skirt
  • NG++: Maughlin the Armourer also stocks the Moon Butterfly Hat, and the chest above his shop holds the Moon Butterfly Shield
  • NG+: the chest on the islet under the narrow bridge toward the forest now gives five Human Effigy items, and a mimic replaces the metal chest on that path
