Things Betwixt
A misty glade and the hut of the old Fire Keepers where your character is created; its caves double as the tutorial.

- Dagger: On a corpse past the first fog gate in Things Betwixt; Sorcerer and Explorer start with one.
- Handmaid's Ladle: Given by Milibeth in Things Betwixt if you kill the two Ogres near her.
- Stone Ring: Dropped by the first Ogre in Things Betwixt.
- Estus Flask Shard: Things Betwixt: free the statue at the third fog gate with a Fragrant Branch of Yore, push the tree and drop into the pit.
Walkthrough: Things Betwixt
- Before entering the hut, go through the gap in the wall, turn right and search the hidden nook next to the fallen tree for a Rusted Coin
- Inside the hut pick your name, class, burial gift and appearance, then speak with Milibeth and the three old women by the fire
- Climb the stairs and open the chest for a Human Effigy
- Leave through the door beside the old women, smash the cart for a Soul of a Lost Undead and a Torch, then light the Fire Keepers' Dwelling bonfire
- Go back through the hut and follow the hidden path under the bridge to find a Small Smooth & Silky Stone
- Return up, cross the bridge, push through the bushes and kill the lone Ogre for the Stone Ring; loot the Gold Pine Resin from the corpse nearby
- Head back to the bonfire and enter the tutorial caves; behind the first fog gate collect the Dagger and a Lifegem
- Drop the Small Smooth & Silky Stone into the bird nest so Dyna & Tillo send you a random item, then kick the ladder down
- Hop off the ledge for a Soul of a Nameless Soldier, then drop back to the main path
- Behind the second fog gate, leap the gap to grab the Amber Herbs
- Jump back, climb the ladder, drop down and open the door for a Cracked Red Eye Orb
- Back on the main path a petrified statue blocks the third fog gate; it needs a Fragrant Branch of Yore, so return later
- With the statue gone, push over the tree beyond that gate, cross it and drop into the pit; a corpse there holds an Estus Flask Shard
- Climb out, pass the fog gate and kick the second tree over on the left to open a shortcut
- Kill the two Ogres in the clearing, then deal with the extra foe that shows up on the beach
- The coffin in the hut lets you swap your character's body type if you sleep in it
- Light every sconce around the hut to make a black phantom appear and fight it
- Talk to Milibeth once more to receive the Handmaid's Ladle
- Return to the tutorial path and continue toward Majula; on the way drop right between the boulders for a Morning Star, Cleric's Sacred Chime and Binoculars
- NG+: Falconers now roam the grass near the start and drop pieces of the Falconer Helm, Falconer Armor, Falconer Gloves and Falconer Boots
- NG+: the waterfall ledge left of the bridge now holds three Smooth & Silky Stones instead of the small one
- NG+: a dark spirit crossbowman blocks the ladder after the second fog gate; he can drop a Heavy Crossbow and the Imported set
